We here at ScorpioSeason.com wanted to start 2012 right with a new ScorpioSeason online community! The community is still very new, but registration is now open (scorpioseason.com/register). Create your own profile, upload your own profile photo and interact with others in the community! You could post status updates, add friends, create/join groups, post in our NEW forums, and send public or private messages to other members! You could also still comment on blog posts under your ScorpioSeason profile as well.

This online community is for all zodiac signs, not just Scorpios! I know we get non-Scorpio visitors with questions about Scorpios or who have opinions on Scorpios as well. Everyone is welcome to join! All we ask is that members be respectful to one another.

To Miseducate; meaning to educate improperly.

Being independent, strong, and seductive sign we Scorpio’s tend to get a bad reputation.  For example, when I meet a guy and tell him I’m a Scorpio the answer is usually “Oh so you a Scorpio? That means you’re up for any and everything huh?!” The answer is Yes I’m up for any and everything, but not with YOU!  On other occasions when others learned I was a Scorpio I was labeled as a jealous person or  temperamental bitch.  Scorpio’s are probably the most misunderstood astrological sign there is.

That is why I’m here to set the record straight about what others have been miseducated about.

Miseducation number 1:  The nasty slutty Scorpio. 

 Scorpio’s tend to be comfortable with sexuality, and have no problems exploring it. But, that exploring usually takes place with our partners and only our partners.  If you want a fulfilled sex life Scorpio is the way to go, but its not for everyone to experience.

Miseducation number 2: The crazy jealous Scorpio!

I really dislike that we are the sign that gets the jealous label. Isn’t jealousy a part of human nature? I’ve never met a Scorpio that was excessively jealous. I haven’t quite figured out what is meant by that.  What do you think?

Miseducation number 3:  The Violent Scorpio.

I’ll admit Scorpios do have a bad temper, but I won’t say we are violent.  If you get into a confrontational situation with a Scorpio you might just quit the argument, because Scorpio’s are passionate about what they believe.  We’ll argue you down til you can’t take anymore, and sometimes it gets a tad bit heated. On the off chance that we do get up to fight you might want to run!

Miseducation number 4: The too secretive/sneaky Scorpio. 

I wouldn’t say we are secretive we’re just mysterious. Scorpio’s believe strongly in privacy, and while we may share some information we always keep some things close to us. We also tend to be quiet, deep, and emotionally complex; we like to keep to ourselves.

Miseducation number 5: The Scorpio is weak pretending to be strong.

They say Scorpio’s are:  jealous, vengeful, overbearing, sarcastic, sexually immoral, intolerant, violent, secretive, and complex because the more weak we are the tougher we have to be.

I must say I have to disagree with the majority of that.

Scorpio’s are also known to be: caring, thoughtful, resourceful, independent, passionate, loyal, trustworthy, determined, sexy, observant, and great people.  Sounds like strong characteristics to me!

When people think of astrology or zodiac signs, they usually think of it as something magical or surreal. This is one of the reasons why many do not believe in astrology… it’s all hocus pocus! And with all of the fake and superficial “horoscopes” that you see in magazines and newspapers, I guess I don’t blame them! Similarly I have seen the opposite reaction from those who read articles from experts and I have even seen many of my fellow Scorpio’s responses to my tweets on Twitter. They cannot believe how accurate the statements are and some did not believe in astrology or zodiac signs until they followed the @ScorpioSeason account. Well, it isn’t all magic folks, and there is a method and history behind all of this.

I’ll explain this a bit more, but first I recommend watching this video by astrologer Christopher Witecki. I remember seeing this video earlier this year and loved how he explained everything so simply.

As Christopher explains, astrologers in the past simply observed characteristics in groups of people who were born within a specific period of time. In order to keep track of the time these individuals were born, they used the stars. There is no other-worldly influence of the stars on people, which is what many (falsely) believe is what zodiac signs are all about. The stars DON’T have magical powers, they do NOT influence your personality.

Earlier this year the internet went nuts because of the “new” sign of Ophiuchus. Astrologers have known about this constellation for years – and it has not changed anything. Yes, the earth has tilted and you may not be born under the same exact angle under the stars that ancient astrologers have noted when they first made their observations, but that does not matter because it is NOT the stars that influence your behavior. The earth is still rotating and the sun and planets are still circling the earth. I thought it was so silly how people were looking at their “new” signs and found that they could not identify with the traits of that particular sign. Remember, back then the stars were just used as a guide to note the time… nothing more.

Astrologers are observers, much like Scorpios. The way I like to personally use astrology is as a guide. I have said this a few times, do not let astrology run your life. Use it as a guide. It is all based on observation, some may apply to you and some may not. You just have to be honest with yourself to figure out whether or not certain statements apply to you. You have to notice patterns within your OWN life and go off of those observations, just like our ancient astrologers did. You also must understand that many of the zodiac information and horoscopes that you read can tend to be generalized and are usually based on your Sun sign alone. I plan on posting about the other planetary influences next year so I will get into that later.

This is what astrology is truly all about. Many naysayers who are against astrology are lacking when it comes to self-observation. Think about it, this is the exact same reason why we have psychologists and therapists. Some people are just unable to engage in introspection and need others to point out their own thoughts and behaviors to them. Some unfortunately are not able to understand it even if it is right in front of them. Astrology may be a challenge to some.

People have asked me why I know so much about Scorpios and have asked me if I’m psychic. I am definitely not psychic. I am just a Scorpio and over time I learned about myself. I have read astrology and zodiac books and articles over the years that I identified with (the good and the bad). But that was just really the tip of the iceberg. Thankfully, as Scorpios we are able to delve into our own depths to understand ourselves, others and the world around us. I went off of what I have read and discovered more specific aspects of my personality, and my relationships with other signs. And fortunately I am just able to express all that I know into words (possibly because I had so many planets in the 3rd House, the House of Communication, when I was born; I will touch on the Houses next year as well). I saw patterns. I noticed that I would never date this one particular sign, but they made great friends! I even noticed that most of my female best friends were another particular sign, but at the same time I noticed that I could not stand men who were that exact same sign! Also I tend to attract 2 other signs as well.

Use astrology to learn about yourself. Afterwards you could use this knowledge for personal growth by using your strengths and acknowledging and possibly fixing or improving your negative traits. Scorpios are complex so it will be quite a task for you guys. The more self aware you are, the more confident you will be. You will understand why you act or think the way you do in certain situations and can adjust your life accordingly for your well being. As far as social interaction goes, my advice to you is to meet people first and form your opinions over time, THEN reflect on their sign. You may notice some interesting patterns in your own life. Never ever ever learn someone’s zodiac sign and dismiss them or put them on a pedestal based on their sign. Be open minded, get to know the person first, observe and make mental notes. Over time you will see a pattern.

The Holidays are approaching fast and I’m  feeling it, and I’m sure you are too. There are deadlines for work and school, shopping for Christmas presents, and the usual holiday stress! Scorpios are pretty intense and from personal experience I know especially around the holidays. We can’t control it its in our nature.

I wanted to take a break from the usual post about Scorpios, and put together a list of relaxation techniques to help my fellow Scorps relax. These aren’t just for the holidays use them anytime!

1. Breathe. Since we are all so busy, and on the go sometimes we forget to just sit down! Make sure you take some time out of your day to sit down and take a breather even if its for 30 seconds!
2. Do something you enjoy.  In my case shopping is usually on the top of my list of things I enjoy, but around this time I avoid shopping centers and even the grocery store as much as possible. Write, read a book, or have sex with the one you love to brighten your day!
3. Exercise. Every zodiac sign of every age, and race need daily exercise. But, it is a known medical fact that exercise helps relieve stress and makes our body’s strong. If you like taking classes I recommend Zumba and Yoga for Scorpios. We have such intense personalities both of the exercises work in different ways to help us feel relaxed afterwards.
4. Buy a gift for yourself. We all love gifts don’t we? I know I do! For the holiday season buy yourself a gift (even if its something small), wrap it up, and put it under your tree. When you start feeling tired, or stressed open it even if its before Christmas day! This helps you enjoy a small part of the holiday season, and helps you escape the madness for just a moment.
5. New Year’s list. Make a top ten  list of everything you want to accomplish in the New Year. Jot down everything you want to leave behind in 2011, and what you want in your life for 2012. Hang the list up somewhere you can see it, and look forward to the future.

Everyone has their needs in a relationship, and Scorpio’s don’t make it easy on the ones we love. We tend to be very picky, because we want nothing but the best. Our ideal partner is someone who is strong, understanding, and unbelievably sexy. I’ve been told that being in a relationship with a Scorpio can be quite demanding.  Scorpio’s tend to be a very strong willed and erotic sign. It takes the right person to handle us and keep us happy in love.

Here are a few tips to keep a Scorpio happy:

1. Excitement. Keep things fresh, new and creative for us. When we first get in to a relationship everything is new and exciting.  But, being with a Scorpio long term means coming up with new idea’s to keep our interest.
2. Loyalty.  All that needs to be said is Scorpio’s are a loyal sign, and if you don’t want to feel the wrath then you shall be loyal too!
3. Fun. Scorpio’s are such an intense sign, and we need someone who can bring out the fun in us every once in a while. We love someone who makes us laugh, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously. For example, some one we can play a prank on, and they don’t get mad they think of a way to get revenge.
4. Intimacy. Of course everyone in the world knows how a Scorpio’s sex drive is, but there is more to being intimate than just having sex and that’s it. We crave intimacy, meaning being affectionate and loving. As tough as we are we still like to have someone to cuddle with after work at the end of the day.
5. Understanding. In the end all we want is someone who understands us, and all of our fiery ways.  Scorpio’s hate feeling condemned, and want someone who will try to understand their faults rather than put them down for them.
